About us

Kempsey Basketball Association is a community-based not-for-profit sporting association based in Kempsey, a regional centre on the mid North Coast of New South Wales. Our players come from all around the local Kempsey Council Shire area.

Incorporated in 2000 as an Association, operating out of Melville High School, Kempsey Basketball has a proud history of past success and building resilience in the local community through the development of grassroots basketball.

The Association attracts significant numbers of basketballers, both competitive and recreational as well as using basketball as a vehicle to provide and facilitate community development goals. We deliver sporting school programs at schools across the area.

Our membership is growing, and we aim to build a community renowned for its sportsmanship. We wish to provide opportunities for everyone to participate in basketball regardless of their personal circumstances. We are in the process of identifying new sites in our regional community to build a new indoor stadium to service the Kempsey Shire area.

We empower our players by using basketball to teach our players confidence, commitment, leadership skills and integrity. It is our belief that by incorporating these values into our Association programs, we will assist our members to set the foundation for a productive and successful life. Our goal is to teach our athletes respect for themselves, their peers and their community by instilling a code of ethics built on honesty, personal accountability, and team work.

Our players, their families and volunteers work together to cultivate a disciplined environment so every member can reach their full potential, develop their talents and increase their skills in the game of basketball and more importantly, use these skill across their entire life cycle to benefit themselves, their families and their community.

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world, with 213 countries playing the game and more than 1,000,000 Australians playing every week. It is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and we want to give our community the benefits that this wonderful sport can bring.
