Summer 2024-2025
Information for junior teams who compete at Port Macquarie
When does season start?
The season starts on 23 October 2024.
When does season finish?
End of TERM 1 2025. Date will be confirmed once teams know their finals placings (top 4 placed teams play semi-finals and finals over the last two weeks of term)
GAME DAYS
When are my game times?
Most games have a consistent weekly schedule, but they may occasionally change. Your team manager will send you a link where you can check your team's draw on the provided link by selecting your competition night, division, and team name. Team managers will also send text messages each week with game times a few days ahead of the game.
What do I wear / bring to games/training?
Players receive a KBA team singlet, which should be returned to the team manager after each game, unless your Team Manager has allocated you a singlet for the season to return at the end of the season. Wear black shorts to play. Bring your water bottle, ball, and sweat towel to each session, and make sure your gear is labeled. Good grip shoes with ankle protection are recommended.
Bench Duty
Teams must provide a bench person for scoring and timekeeping. Bench duty is shared and organized by the Team Manager.
Unavailable for a Game
Contact your Team Manager or Coach if a player can't make a game, and they will arrange a fill-in player to prevent a forfeit.
TRAINING
When do I train?
Local teams are trained once per week at Melville High School for 90 mins. Your Team Manager will confirm what night your team trains.
Is training compulsory?
Yes. KBA believes that attending weekly training sessions is part of being our club. Each team has a mandatory weekly training session. Players should contact their coach or team manager if they can't attend a session. Regularly missing training without notice may affect court time or continued team placement.
OTHER INFORMATION
Team Manager
Each team needs a volunteer Team Manager, ideally one parent per team. The role can be shared among two parents working together. Teams cannot proceed without a team manager.
Team Size
Teams aim for 7 players, but there may be 8 to accommodate friendship groups or carpooling.
Subbing and Game Time
KBA Coaches strive to provide equal court time. In close or finals games, this may not always be possible, but efforts are made to balance it in subsequent games. Any concerns about court time should be discussed with your Team Manager or Team Coach, or emailed to operations@kempseybasketball.com.au. Avoid discussing these issues with the Coach during a game, especially if the Coach is under 18 years old.
Club Merchandise
You can purchase your own team jersey and additional club gear can be purchased through the Club. Email operations@kempseybasketball.com.au and we will send you a link to order your gear. We have some in stock now that can be purchased directly at training.
